How to conduct an interview - pointers

To carry out my interview with the school business manager for my primary research, I have to consider an understanding of how to conduct an interview/meeting.

Listed below are some of the tips that I have found on how to carry out the perfect interview that will hopefully lead me to gain the best possible answers for the questions I will be asking.

Here are the things I found that should be done in an interview/meeting.

  • ü  ensure the organisation of the interview is on point—make sure it is organised for the correct date and time in the correct location.
  • ü  give them some background as to what and why you are asking.
  • ü  let the person answering speak—give them time to answer the questions and only ask 1 question at a time.
  • ü  Listen and be engaged.

And the things that shouldn’t be done in an interview/meeting.

  • û  Don’t rely too much on the notes—actively ask questions.
  • û  Be disrespectful or talk over the person being interviewed.
  • û  Don’t ask more than 1 question at a time.
